According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Liverpool are assessing a January move for Bayern Munich centre-back Dayot Upamecano after a long-term injury to Giovanni Leoni. The Reds are weighing defensive reinforcements mid-season as they juggle domestic and European commitments.
Upamecano, a France international, offers Champions League experience, recovery pace and aerial strength, as well as progressive passing suited to a high defensive line. Those attributes could make him an immediate fit for Liverpool’s system and add competition at centre-back.
At this stage, no formal bid has been lodged and Bayern’s stance is not yet clear. Reports suggest multiple scenarios remain possible, from a loan with an option to buy to a permanent transfer, depending on valuations and squad planning in Munich.
